Biography

I am a fine art photographer specializing in nature and macro photography. Most of my photographs are taken from my own garden or during hikes in various areas of the Patapsco State Park, Maryland.

My approach to photography is based on my understanding of archetypal symbolism and interpretation of imagery in literature and art. I hold a BA in English from the University of Baltimore and an MLA from Johns Hopkins University. I apply this knowledge to the visual language of photography. My subject selections are inspired by ongoing research in spirituality and philosophy. I continue to experiment with lighting, perspective, depth of field and bold colors to convey the mystical qualities inherent in the small, miraculous details of nature.

When I am not taking photographs, I work as a high school administrator.
